ProSonix announced the I-Series Inline Direct Steam Injection Heater, which utilizes an angled steam diffuser to address fibrous slurries that are difficult to pump. The PSX Heater’s unique method of Direct Steam Injection is based on choked flow technology via internally modulated steam. The PSX steam diffuser has a variable flow plug that controls the mass flow of the steam. The variable flow plug has an integral pneumatic actuator to control its position, which eliminates the need for a remote steam valve. The internal modulation allows the steam to be injected at sonic velocity, which assures complete condensation and mixing of the steam in difficult to heat fibrous slurries.
Integration of the PSX Inline heater with its low liquid pressure drop will reduce energy demand and minimize process upsets. Heater sizes are available from Pilot Plant testing to full-scale production. Standard materials of construction are 316 SS or carbon steel, but also are available in a variety of alloys and wear coatings to address aggressive fluid applications.
ProSonix has a full range of DSI heating devices that are designed to handle water, slurries, sludge and aggressive fluids.
